home grown never tasted so good

Long course nationals was held the 10th through the 13th of August at the Woodlands Athletic Club, just north of Houston TX. For all those who couldn’t attend, here’s the event summary: it was hot. And despite the blistering conditions, the swimming went fairly well. Several of my sportier teammates provided our largest team roster in years. Hopefully that will be substantially larger next time.
I think my best event was the 50 Free, although going 7/100ths of a second faster would have been nice. My most interesting event from an analytical perspective was the 200 IM, which (when compared to last year) looked like this:
| Fly | back | breast | free | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cumulative | ||||
| 2007 | :28.61 | 1:03.40 | 1:43.99 | 2:16.17 |
| 2006 | :28.65 | 1:03.49 | 1:43.94 | 2:16.31 |
| Subtractive | ||||
| 2007 | 28.61 | 34.79 | 40.59 | 32.18 |
| 2006 | 28.65 | 34.84 | 40.45 | 32.37 |
If nothing else, I was fairly consistent. And I still need to work on getting home a little more respectably.
My good friend Lynne swam across the English Channel last Monday. She did it in the fastest time of anyone this year and made it seem easy. Was there ever any doubt?
